Alone, away from their work environment, Jeff shows her a nicer side of himself, and she starts to think differently of him. But is this the real Jeff, or could it all be an act?
Waves crashed against the luxury cruise ship as Kayla Emerson clutched her martini. She and her co-workers in the marketing department, along with her boss, Jeff Grover, were heading out to Hawaii to meet with the company’s new partners, K & G Toys. It was nice to get away from all the noise and craziness that surrounded her daily life in Nebraska. A week away from home, even if it was mostly for business, would do her good.
Now if only her pain-in-the-ass boss would leave her alone for five seconds. He constantly had her running errands for a cup of coffee or because he needed his email checked. She was his personal assistant, not his damn slave. She’d worked for the bastard for the past four years, and in that time he’d never complimented her on anything she’d done. He belittled her regularly, no matter how hard she worked for him. So what if Jeff’s father had owned Grover Toys? That didn’t give him the right to act like a jerk.
His voice grated on her nerves whenever he barked out her name. Yet, she imagined what he looked like without his business suit. The thought of it made her sex tingle.
She inhaled a deep breath and whirled around to face Jeff. The sun gleamed on his copper hair. She forced a smile, but it faded quickly when his periwinkle eyes narrowed. “Yes, Mr. Grover?”
He frowned. “Why are you drinking? This is a business trip.”
She swallowed a lump in her throat. Quitting her job sounded like a good idea some days, but she didn’t have a roommate. Maybe something she could look into soon, just in case. But hell, she couldn’t escape the huge car payments she still had to make every month. So yeah, she really needed this job. “Sorry. I thought it was okay. Everyone else is.”
“One or two drinks is your limit. I need you to be focused on your work.”
She nodded. “I usually don’t drink much anyway.”
“Good. You should get some rest soon. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow.”
“Do you need anything before I head to bed, sir?”
“I’m good, thanks.” Jeff waved as he headed downstairs toward his room.
Kayla gulped the rest of her drink down and went in the same direction. Her room was next to his.
The luxury cruise ship was big enough to handle more than a thousand guests. Her mini-suite was as fancy as a hotel room, complete with room service, a queen size bed, a flat screen TV, and a combination tub and shower.
Once inside her own cabin, she changed into a red silky nightgown and laid down on the bed. She wasn’t sure why she bothered with the nightie since she didn’t have a man in her life. With a boss like Jeff, she didn’t have time for a boyfriend. A sex toy was all she needed. She didn’t want to admit his body was what she visualized while using her vibrator. No, she wouldn’t go there!
She preferred blonds to brunets, anyway. She was a natural blonde herself, only she wasn’t blessed with blue eyes like Jeff. Her eyes were the shade of a pea, just like her father’s.
Her eyes grew heavy and she drifted off to sleep, praying that tomorrow would go smoothly.

Kayla jumped at the sound of howling winds. The ship rode the swells as waves pummeled the balcony deck. No matter how hard she tried to ignore the storm, she still tossed and turned. The bed squeaked and made her stomach clench.
An abrupt pounding on the door made her raise her head and look around the room with a racing heart.
“Kayla? Are you awake? We have to go.”
She swallowed. The urgent tone of her boss’s voice told her she wouldn’t like where this went.
Her legs trembled as she hurried over to the door and yanked it open. She crossed her arms, but it didn’t stop the pulse hammering in her chest. “It’s just a storm.”
Jeff shook his head. “The ship’s taking on water. We have to get to a lifeboat.”
Kayla followed Jeff out into the hallway. She screamed as her bare feet squished with inches of water under them. “Damn it! I should have grabbed my bag. I need my shoes.”
Jeff whirled around with a groan. “We can’t take luggage with us on the lifeboat.”
“I still need my shoes!” She dashed back into her room for her tennis shoes and grabbed the jeans and T-shirt she’d laid out for tomorrow morning, stopping only to pull on the shoes.
“Hurry!” Jeff grabbed her hand and rushed down the hallway. When they reached the end of the hallway, he charged up the stairs so quickly it felt like they were in fast forward.
Once they were on deck, she could see crewmembers directing the last of the passengers into lifeboats. Her co-workers were already being lowered into the water, but they were the last ones up from their section. Damn her shoes, anyway.
That left her and Jeff. Great. She sighed and pointed to the last lifeboat on this section, now unmanned. Kayla shivered as the rain drenched her skin. She wished she had changed into something warmer.
“Where are we going?” she asked as Jeff lowered the boat to the waves below.
Jeff shrugged. “I guess back to port.”
Her teeth chattered. A lump formed in her throat. She swallowed as she looked out over the towering waves slamming against the sides of the ship. “I can’t see the others.”
“Don’t worry. We’ll find them.”
She wasn’t so sure they would. Chills continued to trail down her spine. “You don’t have a blanket, do you?”
“There are emergency supplies in the boat somewhere, but I can’t see much of anything. We’d likely just lose everything trying to open things up right now. I’ll find you something once we’re safe. Here, put this on and pull the boat cover around you for now.”
Kayla pulled on the life jacket and ran her hands up and down her arms. “Okay. Thanks.”
He grinned and began to row in fast strokes. “I’m a gentleman at heart.”
“You could have fooled me,” she muttered.
His brow rose. “You think I’m an asshole, don’t you?”
She looked away, staring into the rain. A long brittle silence lingered around them. There was no way she wanted to answer his question, but maybe she had no choice. She cleared her throat and finally found her voice. “No. I don’t think you’re an asshole.” She looked back at him, her voice tight and low. “But you are a bit of a hard ass.” Her heart thundered as she waited for his response.
“I’m sorry you feel that way.” He turned his attention back to rowing the boat.
“Are your arms tired?”
“A little bit.”
“You want me to try rowing?” She tried to make her voice smooth and as calm as possible.
Apparently she failed, because Jeff gaped at her.
She sucked in a breath. “What?”
“You’re worried.” He continued to row in smooth and slow strokes.
“Yeah, but I can row, if you’ll let me.” She squinted through the storm, focusing on what appeared to be an island with small palm trees.
“What do you see?” He glanced at her as he continued to row.
“Not the port.”
“What is it?” he asked.
She sighed and stared at her knuckles. “It looks like a small island.”
Fear twisted in her gut. They had to find help. She wasn’t sure about being alone with Jeff. Would he even know how to start a fire? He was used to being in an office as far as she knew. But her, she hated the outdoors. Especially all the gross bugs that crawled and creeped around.
“Maybe that’s where the others are.”
At least one of them still had some hope left.
* * *
It seemed like hours later when they finally reached the island. Jeff pulled the boat up onto the beach and helped her out, collecting the emergency supplies he’d finally located and hauling them along, bundled up in the boat cover.
The storm had quieted to a mild drizzle. Kayla stepped off to the side, out of his way. “What should we do now?”
Jeff rubbed the back of his neck. “We need to make a shelter.”
“How? We don’t have anything we can use.”
He studied her for a moment. “You’ve never been camping before, have you?”
“Of course I have!” She sighed. “But we don’t have a tent and the thought of little critters running around freaks me out.”
“Critters?” he asked with a low chuckle.
Damn him. Why did he have to make a joke out of her fears? She groaned. “Bugs! I hate them. They crawl and have so many legs. Yuck.” She stuck her tongue out.
Again, he laughed at her. The bastard. Who did he think he was anyway?
“You remind me of my ex-wife.”
Her mouth dropped. “You were married?”
“Yep.” Jeff sorted through the emergency supplies and organized them under a small tree.
Kayla hurried over to help. “You don’t want to talk about it, do you?”
“Not really,” he muttered.
“Did you cheat on her?”
A muscle in his jaw ticked. “I said I don’t want to talk about her. I’ve been single for four years now. Let’s leave it at that.”
“Okay, sorry.” She held her hands up. “If it makes you feel any better, I haven’t had a boyfriend in two years.”
His brows shot up. “Why not? You’re pretty and only twenty-eight.”
“I know, but I don’t have time to date.”
Jeff frowned. “I’m the problem, aren’t I?”
He rubbed his temples. “If we ever find the others and get out of here, I’m going to give you some time off. You deserve better.”
She gave him a smile. Maybe Jeff wasn’t as bad as she thought, especially since he was proving to be more helpful than she was since they got stranded. “You do, too. Whatever went wrong in your marriage, I’m sure it wasn’t your fault.”
“Thanks.” Jeff grabbed the cover’s tie downs and knotted it off to the trees.
Once they had the small shelter secured to the tree, they took their supplies and crawled under it. Kayla used her lifejacket as a pillow. She stretched out and tried to close her eyes.
“I found an emergency blanket. We can share to stay warm.” She shivered as he moved closer. He was so close she could feel his breath against the back of her neck.
Her skin tingled as something hard pressed into her leg. Please be a flashlight or something else other than his… cock. Her curiosity got the better of her so she turned to face him. “You don’t have a flashlight in your pants, do you?”
“No, it’s just me.”
Kayla chewed on her bottom lip. “What do you mean, you? Your…”
He laughed, although it was rough and shaky. “Yes, it’s been a while since I’ve had a beautiful woman beside me. You can have the blanket for yourself if it bothers you.”
“It doesn’t, but you’re still my boss.”
He gazed into her eyes. “We’re stranded on an island. Work doesn’t matter right now.”
She blinked. “Then what does?”
Time for a subject change. Because if she didn’t talk about something else, she’d think about how big his dick could be and sex — the last thing that should be on her mind.
“You never had any children?” She shivered and pulled the blanket around her tighter.
“No. My ex didn’t want them, but I do.”
Why does that surprise me? “Would you ever get married again?”
“Yeah.” He exhaled. “If the right woman came along. She’d have to want a family, though.”
“That’s sweet,” she murmured.
“Is it now?” His voice deepened.
Her heart jumped when he caressed her cheek and then kissed it. His warm lips made her tingle from head to toe. Desire filled her pussy. She had to have more of him.
Kayla leaned closer and locked her lips with his. Their tongues met in a light touch. One of his hands cupped her cheek as he continued to kiss her. His other slid down under the blanket and beneath her nightgown. She moaned into his mouth as he squeezed her ass cheek.
Jeff pulled away and stared at her with wide eyes. “I’m sorry. It’s been a long time since I’ve had sex.”
“Don’t stop now,” she whispered.
“Are you sure?”
His bulge pressed into her thigh as he scooted closer to her. “Hell, yes.” To prove her point, she ran her fingers over the outline of his jeans.
He made a noise that was a cross between a groan and a yelp.
“Do you want more?” She nuzzled his neck.
Jeff popped the button on his Levi’s and pulled his zipper down. Then he lifted up his hips and she helped him slide his jeans and boxers all the way off.
Kayla moved her hand up and down him to get a feel for his size. Her breath quickened. He’s thick and huge. Damn. Her fingers found his balls and she cupped him.
He groaned and then pushed a finger under her panties. She gasped as he slid the digit in and out of her hot flesh. “Holy shit,” she choked out.
He kissed her long and hard as he continued to finger fuck her. Her heart sped up as he used the juices from her pussy to glide another finger into the rim of her ass. She moved her hips to the rhythm of his strokes. A tingling sensation built and she squirmed, knowing she was near the edge.
“Damn, you’re wet,” he said in a low growl.
“Please,” she moaned. “Don’t stop.”
Jeff removed his fingers from her cunt and ass. He looked down at her with a grin. “Ready for something else?”
Now he’s being a tease. “Like what? Don’t you realize how close I was?” She scowled. Sex had been the last thing on her mind when she decided to go on this trip, but now… Getting relief was all that mattered at the moment.
“Sorry.” He chuckled. “That was just the first round. I wanted to warm you up for something better.”
He trailed a finger across her forehead then stopped at her lips and traced the outline of them. She shivered.
As he pushed her nightie up to her hips, her pussy pulsated. She wanted his tongue and lips all over her until she came on his face. His hand slid over the front of her sex and made her body hum. “Jeff,” she panted.
With a grin, he spread her legs and repositioned himself until he held them open with his broad shoulders.
Her breath caught in her throat. Is he going to keep teasing me like this?
She didn’t have to wonder long. His tongue darted against her clit. She squeezed the corners of the blanket as he made slow and torturous licks. Her toes curled and she found herself crying his name over and over.
Kayla’s pussy continued to pulsate even when Jeff placed her legs over his shoulders. He took his time as he sucked and nibbled on her wet folds. Damn, he knows how to eat pussy. Her belly quivered and she ached to come. He trailed his tongue up and down her clit as he circled the little nub.
“I’m getting close,” she gasped. She tugged on his hair and made sure he gave her enough friction to keep her moving to that final moment.
Waves of delight crashed over her one by one as Jeff continued to devour her pussy. With each stroke of his tongue, she shook until the sensation became too much and she shattered into a blissful orgasm.
He pulled her legs off his shoulders and scooted over so he was lying next to her.
When her breathing slowed, she met his eyes. “You’ve gone four years without sex?”
“Yeah, but you were worth waiting for.” He grinned, goofy and wide.
She laughed. “Never heard that before.”
“We should get some sleep.”
“What about you?” She ran her fingers over the length of his bulge.
Jeff pushed her hand away. “Next time. I’d rather cuddle with you.”
Her heart fluttered. How could I have been so wrong about him? He’s like a big teddy bear.
Kayla fell asleep with Jeff’s arms wrapped around her.
